Every two years, a carpet of flowers is laid out on the Grand Place in Brussels over an area measuring 77 × 24 meters. More than a million flowers provide a breathtaking riot of color, each with a specific theme. Traditionally, begonias are used for this, which are particularly suitable due to their durability and color palette. The sight is simply overwhelming and always worth a visit. In 2026, the event is planned for the period from 13.08. to 16.08.
Limited contingent – it pays to be quick!
Arrival in the European capital Brussels. Check into your room in the central hotel. You will then take your first stroll through the old town, where you will have dinner in a typical restaurant.
This morning you will experience the highlights of Brussels as part of a guided tour. The tour will take you to the world-famous Atomium, past the royal residence in Laeken and through the modern European Quarter with the EU Parliament, the Commission and the Council of the EU. You will see the imposing Triumphal Arch in Jubelpark, the magnificent Palace of Justice with a panoramic view over the city, as well as the Royal Palace and the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula. In the afternoon, you will then head to Grad Place, where the flower carpet is laid out directly in front of the imposing Brussels City Hall. You can enjoy an impressive view of the carpet ›from above‹. Either directly from the town hall balcony or from a neighboring restaurant with a viewing balcony (depending on availability). The rest of the day is at your leisure.
Two very special highlights around the Grand Place await you today. The Belgian Beer World is now housed in the magnificent Art Nouveau building of the former stock exchange. An interactive museum about the history of Belgian beers. The highlight is the beer tasting on the building’s beautiful panoramic terrace. In addition to beer, Belgium is also known for its exquisite chocolate and unusual pralines. In the Choco Story, you will learn all about this special craft and, of course, you will also be able to taste some of the chocolates.
After breakfast you say goodbye to Brussels. Perhaps you will make a stop in the venerable university city of Leuven?
