Every two years, a carpet of flowers is laid out on the Grand Place in Brussels over an area measuring 77 × 24 meters. More than a million flowers provide a breathtaking riot of color, each with a specific theme. Traditionally, begonias are used for this, which are particularly suitable due to their durability and color palette. The sight is simply overwhelming and always worth a visit. In 2026, the event is planned for the period from 13.08. to 16.08.
Limited contingent – it pays to be quick!
Arrival in the European capital Brussels. A city tour of Brussels will give you an impression of the many sights of the European capital. You start in the outer areas and see Laeken Castle and the Expo site with the Atomium. Here you will of course have the opportunity to take some photos of Brussels’ landmark before continuing into the city center to the Quartier Louise with the Palace of Justice, the Sablon and Marolles districts and the Royal Palace.
This morning we recommend a stroll through Leopold Park, which starts directly behind your hotel and extends to the first buildings of the European institutions. A visit to the ›House of European History‹ is highly recommended and free of charge after prior registration. In the afternoon, head to Grad Place, where the flower carpet is laid out directly in front of the imposing Brussels City Hall. You can enjoy an impressive view of the carpet ›from above‹. Either directly from the town hall balcony or from a neighboring restaurant with a viewing balcony (depending on availability). The rest of the day is at your leisure.
In the morning, you can take one last stroll through the city center or visit one of the flea markets before setting off on your journey home.
