The ibis Gent Centrum Opera is just a few minutes’ walk from the historic center of this beautiful medieval city.

Ghent is ideally situated for multiple day trips in Flanders. Cities such as Bruges, Brussels and Antwerp can be reached easily by bus, and the provinces of East Flanders and West Flanders are likewise easily accessible. Various hotels in different city locations in Ghent are available, and we have worked well together with all of them over years. The more central the location of the hotel, the more visitors can enjoy life in this hospitable and charming city. The city is equally comfortable and safe for older visitors.

After arrival and check in, be transported back to the Middle Ages on a guided tour, taking in the impressive Sint-Baafs Cathedral and the historic Gravensteen castle in the city centre. After the tour, enjoy charming scenery on a leisurely stroll along the picturesque river Leie. With plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, there are wonderful options for relaxing and soaking in the vibrant atmosphere of Ghent.

Enjoy a wonderful day exploring some of Flanders’ most historic cities! Starting in Antwerp, admire the rich art heritage in this city of Rubens and discover why Antwerp is considered the world’s diamond capital. Then, visit Mechelen, a peaceful city that once served as the capital of the Burgundian Netherlands. One of its highlights is the impressive, unfinished bell tower of St. Rombout’s Cathedral – truly a sight to behold.

West Flanders offers a special mix of natural beauty and rich history! Enjoy charming seaside resorts like De Haan, known for its beautiful Belle Epoque architecture, or visit Ostend, the region’s most important coastal town, with its long sandy beach, lovely seaside promenade and plenty of delightful fish restaurants. For those interested in history and culture, the Atlantikwall museum and the Mu.ZEE art museum are popular attractions. Additionally, Ypres is a city deeply rooted in history, and its impressive Menin Gate and ›In Flanders Fields‹ museum serve as poignant memorials to the victims of the First World War. It is a region that beautifully combines relaxation, culture and remembrance.

Brussels, the country’s capital, offers a captivating conclusion to the trip. Enjoy a guided tour taking in the European Quarter, the world-famous Atomium and, of course, numerous buildings in Brussels’ distinctive Art Nouveau style. Afterwards, begin on your independent return journey.
