Noord Holland
The land between the North Sea and the Ijsselmeer is characterized by picturesque fishing villages, canals, windmills and old trading towns. Cities such as Alkmaar, Hoorn and Enkhuizen became rich and famous through trade, especially in the days of the East India Trading Company. The rich history of Alkmaar is reflected in the 400 listed buildings in the old town, including many cozy cafés and restaurants. In the region between Egmond aan Zee and Bergen aan Zee, you will find miles of sandy beaches and beautiful dune landscapes.

SIGHTSEEING
Alkmaar with its cheese market and beer museum – Hoorn on the Ijsselmeer with its picturesque harbor – Medemblik with Kasteel Radboud – Enkhuizen with the Zuiderzee Museum and impressive historic buildings – the once rich city of Haarlem with its magnificent buildings

In Amsterdam, a tour guide welcomes you to a city tour. You will see the Central Station (Ijmeer side), Java Island, the Muiderpoort city gate, the Waterlooplein flea market, Stopera (music theater and city hall), the Amstel, the Heineken brewery, the museum district and the beautiful south of Amsterdam. You will then drive to your booked hotel.

Alkmaar is known for its picturesque old town and its great cheese market (Fridays, in July and August also on Tuesday evenings). During your city tour, you will see the cozy shopping streets and beautiful squares of the city before heading to the cheese market on the Waagplein. The colorful hustle and bustle of the cheese merchants will take you back in time. In the afternoon, you will visit a cheese dairy and clog maker.

In the morning, you will first take a stroll through Hoorn. Hoorn was a particularly important port for the United East India Company VOC. You will then take a steam train to Medemblik on the Ijsselmeer. From there you will travel by boat to Enkhuizen, one of the most famous harbor towns on the Ijsselmeer. Here you will have the opportunity to visit the Zuiderzee Museum before returning to the hotel.

On the way home, you can take a stroll through the old Hanseatic city of Deventer. We would be happy to organize a guided tour of the city for you.
