Welcome to the capital of the Netherlands, well-known for its picturesque canals. Amsterdam is a very worthwhile travel destination all year round with a wide range of cultural activities, unique museums and an international flair that means the city is always vibrant, but also always intimate. Among the many activities on offer, you could first discover the delights of the Rijksmuseum and then follow this up with a panoramic view over Amsterdam and its surroundings from the A’DAM LOOKOUT viewing platform over a cup of coffee.
At a cheese dairy near Amsterdam, watch a clog maker at work and learn about the production of different types of cheese. A tasting is, of course, also included. Then drive to Amsterdam to check in to your hotel.
Today, discover Amsterdam. Enjoy a guided tour of the city, taking in the Central Station (IJmeer side), Java-eiland, the Muiderpoort city gate, the Waterlooplein flea market, Stopera, home of the city hall and the Dutch National Opera and Ballet, the Amstel, the Heineken brewery, the museum district and the beautiful south of Amsterdam. After this, experience the city from the water on a canal tour, where you can see the busy shipping traffic on Het IJ, the magnificent old sailing ships at the Maritime Museum and the quaint houseboats on the canals in the city centre. Afterwards, there is time for a leisurely stroll along the canals in the old town.
On your return journey, be sure to visit Muiderslot, an old castle on the IJsselmeer. Considered the best-preserved medieval castle complex in the Netherlands, it forms part of the old Amsterdam fortification line.
