The area around Hilversum, Amersfoort and Utrecht is ideally located for multiple day trips in the Netherlands. From here, the IJsselmeer, Amsterdam and the North Sea coast are just as accessible as Leiden, Delft, The Hague and Rotterdam. Utrecht is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, comparable in beauty to Amsterdam. Climb the 465 steps to the top of the Dom Tower to enjoy a unique view over the city. The Oudegracht, or ›old canal‹, is one of the city’s lifelines and its banks are lined with intimate cafés and restaurants. A boat trip on the canals provides a unique impression of the city’s sights.

Utrecht is the fourth largest city of the Netherlands. It is located in the geographical heart of the country and boasts a charming medieval old town with typical Dutch canals, a famous 14th century bell tower, the Domtoren, and a venerable university. After the city walk, take time to stroll along the Oudegracht, where numerous intimate cafés and pubs line the water. Climbing the 465 steps up to the top of the Domtoren of the cathedral provides wonderful views of the city. In the late afternoon, continue to your overnight destination.

Today takes you on a panoramic trip around the Markermeer. Discover old towns like Hoorn and Enkhuizen, and visit the Zuidersee Musem. Driving along the N307, which crosses the water from Enkhuizen to Lelystad, is particularly impressive.
