After arriving in Groningen, the journey starts in the heart of the city, where history meets modern flair. From the majestic Martini Tower, Groningen’s landmark, enjoy a spectacular view over the rooftops. Stroll through the charming streets, discover the futuristic Groninger Museum with its avant-garde architecture and experience the vibrancy of the Grote Markt. The meeting place of the Groninger Forum – unique in its architecture and located in the heart of the city – is a highlight. The futuristic building houses a variety of interesting facilities and attractions, as well as cafés and bars. The roof terrace, with panoramic views over the entire city, is also worth a visit. In the evening, a diverse gastronomic scene offers local specialties in the many trendy bars and restaurants.
Depart Groningen for the coast. Board the ferry in Lauwersoog for the small, romantic island of Schiermonnikoog. Because the island is car-free, the hotel is reached in proper style by bike. Enjoy a wonderfully relaxing day by the sea.
The ferry departs for Lauwersoog later in the morning, followed by a bus transfer to the harbour in Holwerd. From Holwerd, cross over to Ameland for the next two nights.
Enjoy a gloriously relaxing day on Ameland. Explore the mudflats or visit the nature centre. A short bike ride to the Bornif lighthouse or through the dunes is also a wonderful experience. An atmospheric view of the North Sea provides the evening’s backdrop.
The ferry to Holwerd departs in the morning for the return journey.
