From Lelystad you can easily reach all the sights of the Netherlands: the port city of Enkhuizen on the Ijsselmeer with the Zuiderzee Museum, the former World Heritage-listed island of Schokland, Giethoorn and the Weerribben nature reserve, the Hanseatic towns on the Ijssel and the castles in De Veluwe.
Arrival in Lelystad on the IJsselmeer. The first item on the program is a visit to the Batavia shipyard. The museum in Batavialand houses a replica of one of the VOC ships from the 17th century. The ship was built using traditional techniques. History comes alive here! In addition to visiting the ship, you can also watch the craftsmen in the shipyard and stroll through the exhibition about Flevoland, the youngest province in the Netherlands.
Today you set off on a wonderful panoramic tour. You will see Hasselt and Kampen, old, romantic Hanseatic towns, and Giethoorn, one of the most beautiful villages in the Netherlands. A day straight out of a picture book.
Amersfoort is the second largest city in the province of Utrecht and is known for its medieval city center. The city combines tradition and modernity in a unique way, which has earned it the title of ›European City of the Year 2024‹.
Today, another of the venerable Hanseatic cities – this time on Lake Veluwe – is on the program: Harderwijk. Then the return journey begins.
