Berlin is still Germany’s number one metropolis and is one of the most important and popular city break destinations in Europe. In addition to world history, museums and nightlife, the city offers something for every taste. ›Who needs a new airport if it's not rich but sexy‹, Merian once wrote. Nothing has changed to this day. Berlin can be cheap or expensively stylish; you can explore it extensively or just dip into it briefly – either way, it’s an experience.
Worth seeing
Reichstag – Brandenburg Gate – Government Quarter – Museum Island – Berlin Wall Memorial – Checkpoint Charlie – Alexanderplatz – Potsdamer Platz – Gendarmenmarkt – Holocaust Memorial – Nikolai Quarter – Hackesche Höfe
After you have checked into your hotel room in Berlin, we recommend you take a stroll around Alexanderplatz. The square, affectionately known as ›Alex‹ by Berliners, is the center of the eastern part of the city and attracts many tourists with its attractions such as the television tower, the world clock and the numerous shopping opportunities.
As part of an extensive city tour, you will drive through the City East and see the historic buildings under the Linden trees. Of course, you will also see the Museum Island, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and be informed about the Humboldt Forum in the Berlin Palace. In the afternoon, you will take a boat trip on the Spree and the Landwehr Canal, past the historic and modern buildings of the metropolis of Berlin, as well as green banks, dense urban landscapes, industrial areas and the elevated railroad.
After breakfast, you will be taken on a World Heritage boat trip from Wannsee to Potsdam. This special cruise offers you views of Berlin’s green south-west and part of Potsdam. The ship passes historic buildings that are UNESCO World Heritage Sites as well as famous gardens and palaces, such as Peacock Island with its well-tended landscaped park or Glienecke Palace with the eponymous Glienecker Bridge. After your arrival in Potsdam, a tour guide awaits you for a tour of the historic city center. During the tour, you will see well-known sights – including the Potsdam City Palace and the popular Dutch Quarter with its cozy stores and quaint cafés. After an eventful day, you will return to Berlin in the late afternoon and have the evening in the city at your leisure.
On the way home, we recommend a visit to Lutherstadt Wittenberg. With its 4 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, this famous town provides a very special cultural experience. We will be happy to book a guided walk along the ›Historic Mile‹ for you.
