Münster and Osnabrück are among the ›Historic Highlights of Germany‹. The Peace of Westphalia was negotiated in Münster after the Thirty Years’ War and proclaimed in Osnabrück. Both cities offer a wide range of shopping opportunities and a rich gastronomic offer. The Münsterland and the Osnabrück region offer a wide range of options for coach groups: Trips in the footsteps of the Peace of Westphalia, garden trips or trips for friends of good food and drink. The Münsterland region also entices visitors with its picturesque moated castles, half-timbered towns and open-air stages, while the Osnabrücker Land region attracts visitors with its extensive parkland and the site of the Varus Battle.
In the afternoon, a local tour guide will welcome you to a city tour of Münster. The prosperous university and episcopal city of Münster looks back on a long history. It was here that the Peace of Westphalia was negotiated to end the 30-year war. You might even recognize some of the locations from the Tatort films during the city tour.
Today, a tour guide will accompany you on a full-day excursion to the castles of Münsterland with visits to Vischering Castle, Hülshoff Castle and Nordkirchen Castle. First you will travel to Vischering moated castle, which was built by the prince-bishop of Münster in 1271. It is one of the most beautiful moated castles in Münsterland. After a guided tour, you continue to Nordkirchen Castle, the ›Westphalian Versailles‹. The imposing castle lies in the middle of an extensive park and is considered a prime example of a completely preserved baroque complex. Afterwards, the romantic Hülshoff Castle is on the program.
After breakfast, you will leave Münster and visit Tecklenburg, Germany’s northernmost mountain town. During a tour of the town, you will see the center of this cozy half-timbered town, the castle ruins and Germany’s largest open-air theater (closed during rehearsals). You will then start your journey home.
