Antwerp, Leuven and Brussels can be reached in no time and trips to Ghent, Bruges, West Flanders and the Meuse Valley are also easy to make.
Mechelen is a great place to stay and you can easily spend a long weekend here. From here you can also easily visit the provinces of Antwerp and Flemish Brabant with the ›Green Belt‹ around Brussels, a cozy, inviting region with many sights.
After arriving in Mechelen, you will get to know the charming Flemish city on a guided tour. Afterwards, you can go on your own explorations. Thanks to the central location of your hotel, the entire old town is within easy walking distance. You will have dinner in the traditional brewery ›Het Anker‹.
Mechelen is known worldwide for its carillon school. Students from all over the world still learn this rare art here. Today is all about this art. You will visit the carillon school and St. Rombout’s Tower with a carillonneur and will also be treated to a small private concert. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Spend a day in Mechelen or visit another of the Flemish cities of art. Antwerp, Leuven and Brussels can be reached in half an hour by bus, but Ghent and Bruges can also be easily combined as a day trip.
