The Weser Uplands is an idyllic region between Porta Westfalica in the north and Hannoversch Münden in the south. Discover a gentle low mountain range landscape with deep forests, bizarre rock formations, fairytale castles and fortresses, and the idyllic course of the river Weser, which also gives its name to this magnificent stretch of countryside. The Lüneburg Heath boasts mystical moors, dark forests and extensive heathland as well as beautiful half-timbered towns like Celle and Lüneburg. The Guelph city of Hanover serves as your base, and offers much more to visitors than might at first be expected! An unbeatable combination for a fascinating trip.

Arrive independently in Hanover, the capital of Lower Saxony. The city is surprisingly green and the many parks and gardens offer opportunities for relaxation. In the Old Town find idyllic alleyways with intimate cafés and stores, framed by the many historic half-timbered buildings. On a guided tour, explore the interesting Old Town district, which is located around the Old Town Hall and the Market Church. And to keep things flowing, stop off at a typical Hanoverian brewery for a ›Lüttje Lage‹, the city’s cult drink. After checking into the hotel, the rest of the day is at leisure.

After breakfast, head to the Herrenhausen Gardens. The imposing complex not far from the city centre comprises four gardens: the Großer Garten, the Berggarten, the Georgengarten and the Welfengarten. The centrepiece of the ensemble is the Großer Garten, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful baroque gardens in Europe. You will spend the afternoon at Steinhuder Meer – the largest lake in the northwest of Germany and a wonderful local recreation area. Take a leisurely stroll along the lakeside promenade and simply relax or stop off at a beach bar. End the day in Hanover at your leisure.

Discover the idyllic Weser Uplands on this guided tour. The varied landscape with its rolling hills, river valleys and historic towns offers charming views and exciting stories. A special item on the agenda is a guided tour of Porta Westfalica, known as the ›Gateway to Westphalia‹ and for its imposing Kaiser Wilhelm monument. Learn more about the history of the region and enjoy impressive views of the Weser valley.

Experience the charming landscape of the Lüneburg Heath on this diverse round trip. Wide expanses of heathland, idyllic villages and tranquil forests characterise this unique cultural landscape. A highlight of the tour is a visit to the Hermann Löns Memorial, which commemorates the famous ›Poet of the Heath‹. Enjoy informative insights into the region along the way with plenty of time for short walks or photo stops.
